Abby Cadabby is a three-year-old fairy-in-training who lives on Sesame Street. She made her debut in 2006, in the first episode of Sesame Street's 37th season, when she moved into the neighborhood and met some of the Street's residents. On the day of her debut, her wand broke; Big Bird told her to take her wand to the Fix-It Shop where Maria would fix it. Starting in the 40th season, she received her own CGI-animated segment, Abby's Flying Fairy School. And in Season 49, she received another 2D Flash-animated segment, Abby's Amazing Adventures.
Appearances in Christmas specials[]
Sesame Street[]
Abby makes her first Christmas-related appearance in the 2007 special Elmo's Christmas Countdown, starring as the deuteragonist along with Elmo. After Oscar throws away the boxes of the Christmas Counter-Downer, Abby teams up with Elmo to find the boxes and save Christmas.
Abby has a minor role in Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas. She participates in the Christmas Eve congregation on the street at the beginning and learns everyone celebrates different holidays. She is the only Muppet who does not have an ancestral counterpart in the story sequence.
Abby's most recent Christmas-related appearance was the 2D-animated special Sesame Street: The Nutcracker Starring Elmo & Tango. She is one of the Muppets attending Elmo's Christmas Eve party at the beginning of the special. Later during Elmo's dream sequence, she appears as a sugar plum fairy in training who helps Elmo and Tango get past the grumpy flowers by singing them to sleep.
Other Christmas productions[]
Abby joined her friends for a guest appearance at the 2014 Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert.
As a tie-in with Sesame Street: The Nutcracker, Abby was one of the Sesame Street Muppets who appeared in the 2022 edition of Christmas in Rockefeller Center.
