April O'Neil is a character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and related media. She is one of the turtles' best human friends. In the original comics and the 2003 animated series, she was an assistant to a scientist named Baxter Stockman. In the 1987 animated series and the live-action films, she was depicted as a television news reporter, while Nickelodeon's 2012 animated series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the animated film TMNT: Mutant Mayhem depicted her as a teen student.
