Brenda Lee (born as Brands Mae Tarpley) is an American singer. Known primarily for performing rockabilly, pop, and country she began singing at age five in local radio and television shows. Some of her hit songs include "I'm Sorry" (#1), "I Want to Be Wanted" (#1), "Sweet Nothin's" (#4), "All Alone Am I" (#3), "Losing You" (#6), "Everybody Love Me but You" (#6), "Too Many Rivers" (#13), and "Coming on Strong" (#11).
Her most recognized song is the Christmas standard, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree". Being thirteen years old at the time when she recorded the song in 1958, it didn't reach initial success until it became a staple around holiday season since the 1960s. Her version has appeared on multiple Christmas compilations and a films such as Home Alone, and it has re-entered the Billboard charts since 2011. Teetering in the top five, it reached the number one spot in 2023 and making it Lee's third #1 charting song. That same year, she lip-synced to her original recording for a music video of a Christmas party featuring country singers Trisha Yearwood and Tanya Tucker.
