Candy Smalls is the protagonist of Santa, Inc.. She is the daughter of Big Candy and the granddaughter of Grandpa Smalls.
She is an elf who lives in The North Pole and is the highest ranking female elf and is the second-in-command to Santa Claus.
Candy has two best friends; a gingerbread woman named Cookie and a bisexual reindeer named Goldie, who is a member of Santa's B-team of reindeer.
Candy clashes with Junior, Rudolph's son and the leader of Santa's A-team of reindeer. In the final episode, Candy accidentally runs over Junior, but chooses not to get help due to Junior's attitude towards her.
Candy’s ultimate goal is to succeed Santa, much to the dismay of Santa who feels that Candy is not the right one for the job. While she has the smarts and the skills to do the job, her lack of being civil with others and social interactions hurt her where it's needed most. She is also terrible with children, wanting nothing to do with them and scaring them off. This is the main reason why Santa decided not to choose her and instead chooses his intern Devin to be his successor. Candy is displeased with this and sees it as unfair for Santa to take away her dream.
