Cheryl and Meryl Farrell are a pair of twin sisters who are recurring characters in the Nickelodeon animated series The Loud House. Cheryl is the assistant principal at Royal Woods Elementary, while her younger sister Meryl holds the same position at Royal Woods Middle School. Cheryl is the one on the left who usually dresses in yellow-and-green, and her hair is a slightly darker shade of brown; Meryl, the one on the right, wears pink-and-purple and has a mole on her cheek.
In contrast to polar-opposite twins Lana and Lola Loud, Cheryl and Meryl are identical in both appearance and personality, to the point that Lincoln initially mistook Meryl for Cheryl when she was introduced in the show's fifth season. They are both kind-hearted to the students at their respective schools, and also enjoy watching the soap opera Southern Hospitality, as well as going on double-dates with their rarely-seen boyfriends Errol and Darryl. A major difference the sisters do have is that Cheryl is more mature and responsible, while Meryl tends to slack off at work and is a bit more reckless.
Appearances in Christmas specials[]
Cheryl briefly appears without Meryl in the first half of the show's second Christmas episode, "Season's Cheatings". When Lincoln is unable to buy a fancy gift for his little sister Lola (who is his designated recipient in the Loud family's Secret Santa gift exchange) due to the mall having closed for Christmas Eve, he heads to Burpin' Burger, figuring he could at least get her a gift card. However, once he arrives, he sees there's a long line of other last-minute shoppers waiting to buy gift cards, one of them being Cheryl. Cheryl confides to Lincoln that she and Meryl weren't planning on giving each other gifts this year, but she's now heard that Meryl has crocheted a car cover for her.
Both sisters have a slightly more prominent role in the episode's second segment, "A Flipmas Carol". At the beginning of the episode, Flip scams them into buying a Christmas tree that is clearly well past its expiration date, and doesn't offer them a refund after its leaves fall off. Meryl yells to Flip that she hopes he's haunted by his misdeeds, somewhat making her the Jacob Marley-esque character in the episode's Christmas Carol-inspired plot. Later, when the Ghosts of Christmas Present (who resemble Lincoln and Clyde) show Flip how his actions have affected his customers, Cheryl and Meryl are of course among them; their attempt to decorate the tree he sold them causes it to collapse completely. The next morning, Flip, having had a change of heart from the ghosts' visit, goes about making up for misdeeds. This includes bringing a fresh Christmas tree to the Farrell twins, who both thank him by giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Cheryl and Meryl's cameo in Naughty or Nice.
Cheryl and Meryl have a brief cameo in A Loud House Christmas Movie: Naughty or Nice. They are seen coming out of the Supermart when Scoots rides by and makes them drop their groceries. Lincoln and Clyde McBride, trying to get the former's name put back on Santa's nice list, try to help the Farrell twins by picking up their groceries and bringing them to their car trunk. Unfortunately, it is only after Lincoln and Clyde have left that they audience sees that they mistakenly put Cheryl and Meryl's groceries in someone else's car. The movie's end credits later show Cheryl and Meryl about to sit down to Christmas dinner.
In the episode "Merry Diss-mas", Cheryl and Meryl appear skating on the frozen lake at Tall Timbers Park. They observe Lynn Loud Jr. skating with her crush Henrik and can't help but say that they make a cute couple, something Lynn heavily denies throughout the episode.
