Christmas in Rockefeller Center is an annual television event on NBC, broadcast live from Rockefeller Center in New York City, usually on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, in which various celebrities welcome the Christmas season by performing holiday songs, culminating in the lighting of the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. While the tree lighting ceremony has been a national tradition since 1933, the special has been broadcast nationwide since 1997. (Prior to 1997, the ceremony was broadcast exclusively on New York's WNBC station.) It has been hosted by Al Roker (since 1997), Savannah Guthrie (since 2012), and Hoda Kotb (since 2017).
