Three couples at different parts of life navigate big turning points in their lives over the holidays.

- In 1973, Lizzie gives birth to her daughter Ivy. John starts a friendship with Greg, who helps deliver the baby. They promise to give him the house if they decide to move away.
- In 1999, Ivy is friends with the Johnstons due to their parents' friendships that started in 1973. Ivy and her husband Hector take in a young Zian for the holidays and make it memorable for him.
- In 2023, Winnie and Conrad come to spend Christmas with the Harrelsons. Winnie is the one who told them about the house going on sale. John's auto repair shop was converted to a restaurant.
