Charles Martin "Chuck" Jones (September 21, 1912 – February 22, 2002) was an American animator, cartoonist, screenwriter, producer, and director of animated films, most memorably of the Looney Tunes shorts for the Warner Bros. Cartoons studio. He created the characters of Pepé Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, and directed many classic animated cartoon shorts starring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and a slew of other Warner characters. He also collaborated with Dr. Seuss on the Private SNAFU cartoons during World War II and later produced and directed the first two animated TV specials based on Seuss' books, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! in 1966 and Horton Hears a Who! in 1970.
