Drake Mallard, alias Darkwing Duck, is the main character of the Disney animated television series Darkwing Duck. He is a crime-fighting anthropomorphic duck who, in his secret identity, lives in an unassuming suburban house with his adopted daughter Gosalyn. He possesses a mix of courageous altruism and a gigantic arrogance and ego, two drives that constantly clash during his adventures. Due to his ego, Darkwing can initially be mistaken for a bumbling superhero. However, when pushed, as symbolized by the utterance of his catchphrase, "Let's get dangerous," he can become very competent, proving his skill.
Appearances in Christmas specials
To date, Darkwing's only starring role in a Christmas special was, naturally, the Christmas episode of his series, "It's a Wonderful Leaf". Drake loves the Christmas season, and is shown to decorate his Christmas tree in a very athletic manner. However, when Gosalyn wants to open her presents early, Darkwing has to prevent her from doing so, putting an alarm on top of his tree and even hiding in one of the gift boxes that she tries to open. Later, he and his sidekick Launchpad go to the mall to finish up their Christmas shopping, when they find out that someone is stealing things from the other customers. After finding out that Bushroot is behind the Yuletide crime spree currently plaguing St. Canard, Darkwing spends most of the evening chasing down the antagonistic half-plant mutant. Later, when Gosalyn decides to give her presents to their neighbors, the Muddlefoots, because they were unable to find their stolen presents, Darkwing dresses as Santa Claus to deliver the gifts.
In addition, Darkwing also played Santa in a specially-made Christmas-themed promo that aired on the syndicated markets that carried the Disney Afternoon in his show's debut season.
