
Greer Garson (September 29, 1904 - April 6, 1996) was an actress who rose to prominence in the 1940's with films like Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Pride and Prejudice, Blossoms in the Dust, Madame Curie, That Forsythe Woman, Mrs. Parkington, The Valley of Decision and Mrs. Miniver which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress. She reprised the role of Mrs. Miniver for the 1950 sequel, The Miniver Story.
Her other known movies include Julia Misbehaves, The Happiest Millionaire, Julius Caesar, Sunrise at Campobello and The Singing Nun.
Garson semi-retired from acting by the late 1960s and appeared in only a few more projects, including providing the narration for Rankin/Bass' The Little Drummer Boy and its sequel, before retiring completely in 1986. She also appeared as a guest for Perry Como's Christmas in New Mexico in 1979.
She died of heart failure at the age of 91.
