You know, all I really want for Christmas is the ability to hate Christmas. Is that too much to ask?

— Doofenshmirtz to Perry

Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz is the main antagonist of the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb; he is a mad scientist and head of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated. He tends not to be evil in the traditional sense, but rather overly dramatic, eccentric and generally clueless. He constantly attempts to wreak havoc across or take over "the entire Tri-State Area", but all of his plans tend to be thwarted either by his nemesis, Perry the Platypus, or by his own incompetence. Doofenshmirtz would eventually give up his villainous ways and reform at the end of the series, and later become a regular in the second season of Milo Murphy's Law, in which it is revealed that he will eventually create time travel under the alias "Professor Time".

In the series' second Christmas episode, "A Phineas and Ferb Family Christmas" (which chronologically occurs first), Doofenhmirtz is misled into thinking it is already December when he sees The 12th Annual Phineas and Ferb Christmas Special being broadcast on television. After setting up all of his Christmas decorations, Doofenshmirtz builds a Transportinator, which he plans to use to transport himself into the department stores while everybody else is looking for parking spaces. After transporting himself to the department store, he points out that they have not bothered decorating for Christmas when he is suddenly transported back to his lair as a result of Perry hitting the reverse switch. When Doofenshmirtz tries to use the Transportinator again, he ends up teleporting the guests from Phineas and Ferb's TV special into his building.

In the series' first Christmas special, Phineas and Ferb Christmas Vacation! (which chronologically occurs later in the series' timeline), Doofenshmirtz plots to ruin Christmas for the rest of Danville by convincing Santa Claus that everyone in the city is naughty, using his newest device, the Naughtyinator. However, the flaw in his plan is that, unlike most other villains, he doesn't hate Christmas and has no real reason to want to destroy it. He even confides to Perry that what he truly wants for Christmas is the ability to hate Christmas.

Doofenshmirtz is soon given a reason to activate the Naughtyinator when he gets a visit from a group of carolers singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and demanding he bring them some figgy pudding. Annoyed with their request, Doofenshmirtz activates the Naughtyinator and seems to succeed in his plan, but it does not stop the carolers from continuing their song. Surprisingly, he finds that he does have some figgy pudding and gives it to the carolers. After they leave, Doofenshmirtz plays a CD that Perry brought with him, and turns up the volume so loud that it ends up destroying the Naughtyinator, thwarting his plan. After Perry traps the doctor in the trap he used on him earlier, Doofenshmirtz curses that he hates Christmas, and then suddenly realizes he got exactly what he wanted.

Over the end credits, Perry pays Doofenshmirtz a visit on Christmas Day to exchange gifts. Perry gives him some almond brittle, and Doofenshmirtz gives him a vase.

Other Christmas productions[]

Years after Phineas and Ferb ended, and months after Milo Murphy's Law ran its last episode, Doofenshmirtz appeared in a Broken Karaoke short in which he sang "Deck the Halls" with Baymax from Big Hero 6, Launchpad McQuack from DuckTales, Anne Boonchuy from Amphibia, and Tilly Green from Big City Greens. Strangely, Doofenshmirtz's lines in their song reference him battling Perry, despite him having long given up his evil ways in canon by the time of the short's release.
