Part 1
The entire gang is on Christmas break, and most of them have random jobs over break. Slater is working in gift wrap and Kelly is working at mens' clothing store. Jesse is the assistant for pictures with Santa, and Lisa is working at a hospital as a candy striper. Zack meets a girl named Laura who works at the same store as Kelly, but is unaware that she is homeless. Meanwhile, the gang, led by Mrs. Morris, is busy getting ready for their production of A Christmas Carol.
Part 2
Zack discovers the true identity of Laura and her boss accuses her of stealing a sports coat. This leads to her being fired, prompting the gang to persuade her boss to let her come back. Her boss apologizes by giving her father, Frank, the sports coat. Zack and his mother let Laura and Frank stay until he can find a job.
