Howard and Harold McBride are the adoptive fathers of Clyde McBride in the Nickelodeon animated series The Loud House. They both care deeply about their son's well-being and frequently shower him with their attention. Howard is neurotic and high-strung, often getting overemotional when watching his son growing up, to the point that his husband often needs to calm him down. Harold is the more calm and level-headed of the couple and is also a skilled chef.
Appearances in Christmas specials
In the show's first Christmas episode, "11 Louds a Leapin'", after Lincoln finds out why Mr. Grouse is so grouchy around Christmas, Howard and Harold accompany their son and the Loud family in giving the lonely old man a bus card so that he can see his family tomorrow, and spending the evening with him in the meantime. When Lincoln tells Mr. Grouse that he's glad that they're friends now, Howard is naturally overjoyed at this moment, and Harold, initially reminding his husband of what their therapist says, ultimately agrees and cries tears of joy along with him.
Three seasons later, Howard is seen at the beginning of "A Flipmas Carol", buying inflatable lawn decorations that are supposedly on sale at Flip's Food & Fuel. However, as he and Clyde are loading said decorations into their car, Flip informs Howard that the sale just ended a few seconds ago and makes him pay full price. Later in the episode, the Ghosts of Christmas Present (played by Lincoln and Clyde) take Flip around Royal Woods to show him how much his greed is ruining Christmas for his customers. During this montage, Howard and Harold (the latter of whom has no lines in the episode) have just set up the inflatable decorations, only to see them all deflate, much to Howard's dismay. At the end of the episode, Flip, having had a change of heart from the ghosts' visit, re-inflates the McBrides' decorations.
