"I Never Know What Gifts To Buy, Do You?" is sung by Geppetto in Pinocchio's Christmas after he sends Pinocchio to school. He speaks to himself in a mirror to debate what gifts to buy for those he cares about, and imagines his reflection is disregarding his ideas. After the song, he admits he is too poor to afford a better meal then oatmeal, let alone buy presents for Pinocchio, and realizes he has to sell something in favor of his "son's" first Christmas.

Geppetto: I never know what
gifts to buy, do you?
Reflection: Eh, Never
Geppetto: On all my lists are
scarfs and ties, you too?
Reflection: Me too.
Geppetto: I never know the size of gloves;
the length of sleeves;
the color she loves;
And every time I buy a
book they've read it
Reflection: I've read it
Geppetto: Christmas gifts
Reflection: You're right
Geppetto: Forget it
A scarf is nice warm
Reflection: Dull
I never know what
gifts to buy, do you?
On all my lists are
things scratched out
Reflection: Me too
Geppetto: For shoes and socks
are strictly "No's"
And hats are tough
Does she like bows
Reflection: And if I buy a
sweater they'll return it
Geppetto: True
Reflection: Christmas Gifts!
Well, darn it!
Geppetto: A tie will be nice
Red and blue
Ooh, exicting
Reflection: Dull
Both: I never know what
gifts to buy, do you?
On all my lists are
scarfs and ties, you too?
Reflection: I guess this year
you'll do the same.
Geppetto: I'll burn the list
and to each name
I'll send my best regards
and then forget it
Reflection: Forget it
Geppetto: Christmas gifts
Both: I never know what
gifts to buy
Forget it
