James Earl Jones (January 17, 1931 - September 9, 2024) was an American actor who was best known for voicing Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa in Disney's The Lion King, as well as providing the tagline for CNN. He was named a Disney Legend in 2019.

- Years prior to voicing Santa in the Recess Christmas episode, Jones was previously considered for the character's voice in The Nightmare Before Christmas, but he turned it down.[1]
