Jingle Bells is one of Santa Claus's elves who works at the North Pole in the Rankin/Bass animated special The Year Without a Santa Claus. In the special, he and his companion Jangle Bells are charged with the task to stirring up some Christmas cheer when Santa becomes ill one Christmas. Mrs. Claus sends them into the outside world with Vixen the baby reindeer as their guide.
Jingle is the more level-headed of the duo, while still remaining a rather simple-minded elf. Positive and determined, Jingle sets to succeed at their objective no matter what the obstacle. He comes up with the idea to use Jangle's socks to disguise Vixen as a dog so as not to arouse suspicion from the citizens of Southtown, only for Vixen to get captured by the dog catcher. Later, he decides that their problems have gone beyond their own capability and calls upon Mrs. Claus for help, although Jangle initially thought of the idea.
Jingle, along with Jangle, also makes a cameo in the opening scene from Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey.
