LaLaLand

La La Land is a 2016 musical film directed by Damien Chazelle starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and J.K Simmons. The film is notable for receiving a record 14 Academy Award nominations (tying with Joseph L. Mankiewicz's 1950 drama All About Eve and James Cameron's 1997 romantic epic Titanic).

Like Die Hard and Doctor Zhivago, some parts of La La Land take place around Christmastime most notably at Christmas Eve when a young pianist named Sebastian is ordered by his restaurant boss to play traditional Christmas music for the patrons only to slip into jazz improvisation, which results in him getting fired.

In one of the most notorious Academy Award ceremomy blunders known since as Envelopegate, La La Land briefly won Best Picture for 5 minutes until it was announced that the actual Best Picture winner was Barry Jenkins' coming-of-age LGBT drama film Moonlight.
