My Twelve Puns of Christmas are off to a great start. I've only gotta come up with eleven myrrh! Hohohohoho! Make that ten!

— Luan being herself

Luan L. Loud is one of the main characters from the Nickelodeon animated series The Loud House. She is the fourth-oldest of Lincoln Loud's ten sisters, known for her love of comedy. She is a fun-loving teenager who has a tendency to crack a pun whenever she speaks, much to the annoyance of her siblings, and is often accompanied by her ventriloquist dummy, Mr. Coconuts. Although she is usually one of the kinder Loud siblings, as she always wants to give her siblings a good laugh, she also has a penchant for pulling pranks, especially on April Fool's Day when they become downright fiendish.

Appearances in Christmas specials[]

The Loud House[]

Luan's first appearance in a Christmas production was, of course, the show's second-season premiere, "11 Louds a Leapin'". In her subplot of the special, Luan spends Christmas Eve coming up with her annual "Twelve Puns of Christmas", clicking a remote counter with each one. At one point, she also catches her oldest sister, Lori, in the act of trying to open one of their mom's Christmas presents, and encourages her to break her habit. Luan manages to get all the way up to her eleventh Christmas pun by the time Lincoln informs her and the rest of the sisters all about Mr. Grouse being unable to see his family for Christmas. After hearing this, Luan puts her puns on hold and, along with her family and the McBrides, spreads Christmas cheer to their cranky neighbor. After she is shown to have received a magic kit for Christmas, Luan pops up at the very end of the episode to deliver her twelfth pun and wish a Merry Christmas to the viewers, right before she suddenly gets snagged in one of Lana's reindeer traps.

In the online-exclusive Loud House short "12 Days of Christmas", in which the Loud family sings their version of the titular song, Luan sings that her Christmas gift was "four awesome pranks", consisting of using a whoopee cushion on Lori, a joy buzzer on Luna, a squirting flower on Leni, and throwing a pie in Lincoln's face.

Mr. Coconuts takes control of Luan's phone conversation in "Season's Cheatings".

Luan's next appearance in a Christmas special was the fifth-season episode "Season's Cheatings". When Lincoln fears he will not be getting the Rip Hardcore backpack for Christmas, he disguises himself as Lori and then calls up Luan to ask her to switch name-cards with "her" in the family's gift-swap. Since gift-giving is the only thing that Luan takes seriously, she is actually willing to buy the backpack for Lincoln, but Mr. Coconuts demands that he be the one to pick out the gift. At the end of the episode, it is shown that Luan received a new pair of Groucho Marx glasses.

Luan also appears in the segment's sister episode, "A Flipmas Carol". However, she is much less prominent in that episode due to it being a take on A Christmas Carol with Flip in the Ebenezer Scrooge role.

Luan and her family have a cameo at the end of The Casagrandes episode "A Very Casagrandes Christmas", in which they come to spend Christmas at the Casagrandes' after Vanzilla breaks down in Great Lakes City.

The show's next Christmas episode, "Snow Escape", finds Luan and her siblings trying to get to school on the last day before winter vacation while avoiding snowball attacks from Lynn Jr., who becomes a beastly snowball-throwing monster anytime a "packing day" is declared. Luan is among the sisters still standing when they and Lincoln try disguising themselves as a neighbor's lawn decoration; in Luan's case, she dresses as one of the reindeer that was part of said decoration. However, Lynn Jr. eventually catches on to them and drags Luan away to pelt her with snowballs.

Luan's latest Christmas appearance is in the episode "Twas the Fight Before Christmas", in which she and her siblings team up with their cousins to get her dad, Lynn Loud Sr., to reunite with and stop feuding with his brother Lance.

The Really Loud House[]

At the start of the live-action movie A Loud House Christmas, Luan states that she has moved from her "Twelve Puns of Christmas" to doing "Twelve Pranks of Christmas". Unlike the puns in "11 Louds a Leapin'", though, the audience does not see the first eight pranks, as she has already done them offscreen, and pulls off her ninth and tenth pranks early on. At breakfast, she reveals to her family that she has asked to perform her comedy act at the Sunset Canyon retirement home. Lincoln, in his plot to keep his family together for Christmas, springs a series of pranks allegedly from Luan on the senior citizens living at Sunset Canyon and gets them to cancel her act. Unfortunately, Luan is heartbroken by the fact that the kids' maternal grandfather, Albert, has cancelled her performance, to the point that she considers giving up comedy (again). Eventually, after Lincoln confesses his actions at the end of the movie, we see that Luan is back on good terms with their grandfather, and Lincoln informs the viewers that she's been re-booked for a double gig at Sunset Canyon.

Mentions in other Christmas specials[]

In The All-Star Nickmas Spectacular, when Lincoln shows up to give season's greetings from himself and his sisters, he mentions Luan alongside his other sisters.
