Luna Loud is one of the main characters from the Nickelodeon animated series The Loud House. She is the third-oldest of Lincoln Loud's ten sisters and gives a literal meaning to their surname, as she is known for her passion for rock music, which she developed when she attended her first concert during seventh grade. Aspiring to become a rock star, Luna leads a band called the Moon Goats (along with her Lesbian girlfriend, Sam Sharp, and their bandmates, Sully and Mazzy). When not jamming with her bandmates, she is often seen practicing with her Logan V-80 Shredder guitar or listening to rock music, and frequently quotes lyrics from famous songs. She is also caring and supportive of her siblings, much like her older sister, Leni.
Appearances in Christmas specials[]
The Loud House[]
As one of the show's main characters, Luna naturally has a prominent role in its first Christmas episode, "11 Louds a Leapin'". Her subplot in the special finds her trying to write a new Christmas song on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, she suffers a case of writer's block in doing so, as the lyrics she initially comes up with all relate to wanting and receiving presents. Later, Lincoln tells all his sisters about how he found out that their next-door neighbor, Mr. Grouse, has no one to spend the holidays with and can't travel to see his family. This gives Luna the realization that the reason she's been having so much trouble with her song is because her previous attempts were not in the true Christmas spirit at all. When the Loud and McBride families go to spend the evening with Mr. Grouse and spread Christmas cheer to him, Luna leads them in singing her new song, "That's What Christmas is All About". At the end of the episode, it is shown that Luna received a banjo for Christmas.
In the online-exclusive Loud House short "12 Days of Christmas", in which the Loud family sings their version of the titular song, Luna sings that she got three French horns for Christmas.
Luna's next appearance in a Christmas special was in the fifth-season episode "Season's Cheatings". In that episode, Lincoln has gotten Lily as his Secret Santa, but is hoping to receive a Rip Hardcore backpack. After several failed tries to get one of his other sisters as his Secret Santa, Lincoln simply asks Luna if she'd switch her Secret Santa name-card (which has Leni's name) with Lily. Since she owes Lincoln a favor because he filled in for one of her bandmates in the Moon Goats' last gig, Luna agrees to this deal and buys the backpack. However, when Lincoln realizes he doesn't have a gift for his gift recipient, Lola, he ends up trading the backpack to his rival, Chandler, for a pair of earrings. In the end, Lincoln admits that he opened his present early, but lets Luna know that it was exactly what he wanted.
Luna also appears in the segment's partner episode, "A Flipmas Carol", but has a much less prominent role, not even having any lines of dialogue, due to it being A Christmas Carol adaptation focusing on Flip.
Luna and her family also have a cameo at the end of The Casagrandes episode "A Very Casagrandes Christmas", in which they come to spend Christmas with the Casagrandes after Vanzilla breaks down.
The show's next Christmas episode, "Snow Escape", finds Luna and her siblings trying to get to school on the last day before winter vacation while avoiding snowball attacks from Lynn Jr., who becomes a snowball-throwing beast every time a "packing day" is declared. Luna is taken out early on, but is eventually seen to be okay at the end of the episode.
Luna's latest Christmas appearance is in the episode "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas", in which she and her siblings team up with their cousins to put an end to their respective fathers' family feud. After her father Lynn Sr. and her uncle Lance finally do make amends, Luna and her oldest cousin, Shane, sing the duet "I Just Want My Family on Christmas Day" at the end of the episode.
The Really Loud House[]
In the live-action telefilm A Loud House Christmas, Luna is invited to go skiing with her girlfriend Sam's family for Christmas. Although her parents approve of this, Lincoln does not want her or any of his sisters to be away on Christmas. Thusly, he and his best friend Clyde send her a phone message, seemingly from her favorite rock star, Mick Swagger, saying that he's coming to Royal Woods for a jam session and wants her to join him. Luna jumps at the chance to jam with her idol, but Sam is not so happy about Luna picking this over going with her on her family's ski trip and breaks up with her. As a result, Luna falls into a deep depression and is too heartbroken to celebrate Christmas. Eventually, Lincoln confesses to his family everything he did to keep them together, including telling Luna that Mick isn't actually coming to town. Afterward, having forgiven her brother for his actions, Luna performs "It's Christmas Time" at the mall's tree-lighting ceremony. Later, on Christmas morning, Lincoln tells the viewers that Luna's going to join Sam for her family's ski trip after all, indicating that the two girls have gotten back together.
Mentions in other Christmas specials[]
In The All-Star Nickmas Spectacular, when Lincoln shows up to give season's greeting from himself and his sisters, he mentions Luna alongside his other sisters.
