Maria Rodriguez (née Figueroa) was a character on the PBS series Sesame Street, arriving on the street as a Puerto Rican teenager and taking a job at the library in Season 3. The library was later converted into the Fix-It Shop, where she was hired in during Season 7, later being promoted to full partner in Season 12. She often mediates disputes among the Muppet characters, sometimes becoming flustered by their chaotic nature. She has been the target of the Amazing Mumford's magic tricks, Sonny Friendly's ridiculous traveling game shows, Grover's lectures with incorrect facts, and Oscar's cynical wisecracks, who has been known to address her with the nickname "Skinny". After her first romantic relationship with David in the 1970s, she eventually married Luis in 1988, and they had a daughter named Gabi the following year.
