Michelangelo (often called Mikey or Mike for short) is one of the four protagonists of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and related media. He is the most light-hearted and friendly of the four turtles. Upbeat and good-natured, Michelangelo prefers to spend his time enjoying his life, but he can be serious if the situation calls for it. His weapons of choice are dual nunchaku, and he typically wears an orange bandana in most iterations of the franchise outside of the original comics.

Appearances in Christmas specials[]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles[]

In the direct-to-video special We Wish You a Turtle Christmas, Michelangelo and his brothers head up to the streets of New York City on Christmas Eve when they realize none of them have actually picked up a gift for Splinter. Midway through their excursion, he inexplicably starts singing in an operatic voice, something Raphael notes has apparently happened before.

Michelangelo has the starring role in the Christmas episode of the 2003 Ninja Turtles cartoon, "The Christmas Aliens", which was adapted from a one-shot comic book special starring him. While out enjoying a Christmas Eve snowfall in Central Park, Mike finds a stray orange kitten and decides to take it home with him, naming him Klunk. On his way home, Mike passes by a toy store where he sees three of the Purple Dragons stealing a delivery truck full of the super-popular Little Orphan Alien toys, which are supposed to go to the Brown Street Children's Home. Michelangelo manages to chase after and fight off the three thugs, then has to defend the toys when more of the Purple Dragons try to stop him. After taking control of the truck, though, he finds himself having to elude the police when they mistakenly think he's one of the crooks. He manages to hide the truck and then makes his way back to the Turtles' lair. After introducing his family and friends and their guests to his new pet Klunk, Michelangelo explains to them what he was out doing. Michelangelo and the Turtles, along with their friends, then all come to the Children's Home, dressed as Santa and his helpers, to give out the toys to the children living there.

The 2012 version of Michelangelo in The Toycracker.

The 2012 series' version of Michelangelo was one of the licensed characters featured in the Target commercial The Toycracker.

In 2018, the Ninja Turtles were among the licensed toy characters who appeared in stop-motion form in that year's "Happy Honda Days" advertising campaign. Townsend Coleman, who had voiced Michelangelo in the 1987 Ninja Turtles cartoon, reprised the role for their commercial.
