The Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers are the protagonists from the television series of the same name (which adapted footage and concepts from three Japanese series - Kyouryu Sentai Zyuranger, Gosei Sentai Dairanger and Ninja Sentai Kakuranger). They are a super-powered team of teenagers gathered by intergalactic sage Zordon to battle the evil Rita Repulsa and, in the second and third seasons, Lord Zedd. Though the team's line-up changed throughout the years, both of the show's Christmas episodes used this line-up: Tommy Oliver, the White Ranger (formerly the Green Ranger and later the Red Zeo Ranger; portrayed by Jason David Frank), Adam Park, the Black Ranger and later the Green Zeo Ranger (portrayed by Johnny Yong Bosch), Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger (Amy Jo Johnson), Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger (David Yost), Aisha Campbell, the Yellow Ranger (Karan Ashley), and Rocky DeSantos, the Red Ranger and later the Blue Zeo Ranger (Steve Cardenas).

Appearances in Christmas specials

The Rangers appear briefly at the very end of Alpha's Magical Christmas, with Tommy, Kimberly and Billy teleporting into the Command Center and joining Alpha 5 and Zordon in celebrating Christmas. On the Viewing Globe, Rocky, Adam and Aisha give their Christmas greetings as Zordon mentions of previous Rangers Jason, Zack and Trini being away. Oddly, despite this direct-to-video special apparently taking place in the later half of the show's second season, Tommy appears as the Green Ranger.

The Rangers appear here in full force during the show's second direct-to-video Christmas special, "I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger". They attempt to prepare for the Angel Grove Youth Center's Christmas Party, with Kimberly attempting to console a child whose father might not show up. However, the team is called away when trouble is revealed - Zedd and Rita's henchmen, Goldar and Rito Revolto, have taken over Santa's workshop and were dead set on ruining Christmas. However, because of the concentration of Christmas magic, the Rangers couldn't morph and fight back. They're able to use that to help drive off the goons and rescue Santa Claus and his elves. With a little bit of work, they're able to get everything ready for Christmas and makes sure it happens. In the original VHS release of the special, Kathrine "Kat" Hillard, who replaced Kimberly as the Pink Ranger midway through the third season appears on the Viewing Globe briefly; however, this scene was cut when the special was aired as an episode of the show.

Of the above-listed six Rangers, Tommy Oliver is the only one who appeared in another Christmas episode in later Power Rangers series - "A Season to Remember", the Christmas episode of Power Rangers Zeo.
