Leipzig Homicide Pierino Ronald 'Perry' Como was a singer and actor whose career spanned over six decades. He hosted a weekly television variety show, which under different names and sponsors ran from 1948 to 1963, and then as a monthly series until 1967. Afterwards, he continued to appear in seasonal specials, many of which took place in exotic climates. These Christmas specials, which were an annual event through 1994.
Some of Como's memorable hit songs include "I'm Gonna Love That Gal", "Till the End of Time", "Hot Diggity (Dog Ziggity Boom)", "Surrender", "If (They Made Me a King)", "Some Enchanted Evening", "Catch a Falling Star", "Magic Moments", Papa Loves Mambo", "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes", "Ko-Ko-Mo (I Love You So)", "Round and Round", "It's Impossible", "Wanted", "Temptation", "And I Love You So", "Dig You Later (A Hubba Hubba Hubba)", I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", "Prisoner of Love", "Chi-Baba, Chi-Baba (My Bambino Go to Sleep)", and "Because".
Many of Como's Christmas recordings also made on the Billboard Hot 100 chart such as "Winter Wonderland" (1946 (#10)), "White Christmas" (1947 (#23)), "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" (1951 (#19), 2018 (#32), 2019 (#28), 2020 (#12), 2021 (#21)), and "Home for the Holidays" (1954 (#8), 2018 (#32), 2020 (#22), 2021 (#37)).
He retired from performing in 1997 and passed away in at his home in 2001.
