"Pim Finally Turns Green" is the second Christmas-themed episode of the Adult Swim animated show Smiling Friends, produced and airing as its second season finale [the eighth and final episode of its second season].
Summary[]
The episode starts by zooming in on the Smiling Friends building covered in snow, as Allan goes outside to take out the trash. He spots Charlie and Glep building what they call 'the worst snowman ever'. Allan says that the Snowman looks rotten, which Charlie says is the entire point of the build, before using Rotten as its name. Pim joins the guys outside and asks what they're doing. Pim says that he loves building snowmen and Charlie says that Pim can still add something to it if he wants to. Pim looks among the trash outside the building and eventually chooses to add a daffodil to the snowman, even though it doesn't exactly fit the theme, but when he adds the daffodil, the snowman screams and comes to life, startling the main four. They remark that Rotten is now alive, to which he questions what life means. Mr. Boss comes out to join them, remarking that the daffodil that Pim picked sprouted from nuclear waste that they had. He threatens to kill Rotten, though Pim remarks that they can keep Rotten alive and show him the meaning of life. Mr. Boss blasts off to the moon in his brand new rocket boots, and Charlie and Allan talk about how funny he is. The other guys try come up with excuses as to why they can't join him, so it's up to Pim to do the work himself.
A montage is shown of Pim and Rotten playing in the snow to varying levels of enjoyment, before they end their day by resting on a bench. Rotten spots a billboard advertising Meep Lite at the beach, and says he wishes to go there. Pim remarks that he can't take him there since otherwise he'd die, which startles Rotten. He explains that all living things die eventually, but Rotten is sent into hysterics anyway. The next day, Rotten is shown screaming in front of the Smiling Friends HQ, with the others annoyed by the noise. Pim says he feels bad for causing this meltdown. Charlie offers to help, and Pim reminds him that his uncle can help pull some strings. Stepping outside, the two introduce Rotten to Bill Nye, who begins to sing a song about how death is a natural part of life in his hot air balloon. However, the hot air balloon descends into a powerline, killing Bill Nye instantly and reverting any progress the group had made.
Back inside the HQ, Mr. Boss tells the boys that Rotten's behaviour has been scaring away customers and if they don't do anything soon he'll take matters into their own hands. Allan suggests that if he's taken to a mountaintop, he can theoretically live forever. The others remark on his intelligence and Mr. Boss tells them that Allan was the one who designed his rocket boots. Dragging him to the top of the mountain, The two explain to Rotten that this way he'll never melt, though Charlie lets slip that it might get warmer in a million years so it's only "basically" forever. This doesn't ease Rotten's mind, causing him to scream once more. The next day, a Yeti arrives at the Smiling Friends HQ to drop off Rotten, saying that not only was the mountain his private property, but he had been disturbing his family. Unsure of what to do now, the boys struggle to come up with ideas, though Glep suggests that they put Rotten in the freezer. Rotten is thrilled with the idea as this way he'll never die. Six months pass however, and Rotten realises that even though he's technically alive, he's not living like how he was with Pim. Hearing Charlie say that they're going to the beach, he decided to join them, with Pim coming up with the perfect plan.
The Smiling Friends and their significant others are playing beach volleyball, with Rotten being stationed in an ice box - passing Charlie a beer. He remarks that his worries are melting away, though he's immediately knocked over by the Homer Simpson Critter. As he's melting, he reassures a distraught Pim that it's his time to move on and he's happy he lived life, before sinking into the sand. Pim and Charlie mourn Rotten's death, but they turn to see Rotten reincarnated as the ocean. Mr. Boss is shown surfing on Rotten's wave, and he wishes Pim and Charlie a Merry Christmas (even though it's June.) He's joined by Bill Nye's ghost, before remarking that he loves science. Charlie goes on to have a speech about how he loves his friends, God and his country.
After the speech ends, he and Pim discuss whether or not Rotten was reincarnated solely as that wave or as the entire ocean. Rotten proceeds to swallow a cruise liner, before summoning a wave to presumably wash away everyone.
