Raymond "Ray" Stantz, PhD, is one of the main characters from the 1984 film Ghostbusters and its sequel Ghostbusters II, as well as the animated series The Real Ghostbusters. Played by Dan Aykroyd in the films, he is one of the three parapsychology doctors who are the founding members of the eponymous team. Ray is an expert on paranormal history and metallurgy, and is known for his almost childlike enthusiasm for his work, and his forthright acceptance of paranormal activity.
The only Christmas special to feature an appearance by Ray and his teammates was The Real Ghostbusters episode "Xmas Marks the Spot", in which they accidentally travel back in time and change the future by trapping the ghosts from A Christmas Carol before Ebenezer Scrooge can be reformed. Upon the reveal that this action has eliminated Christmas in the present day, Ray is the fiercest advocate for setting things right.
