|“||Oh, what a rotten Christmas!||”|
— Principal Prickly
Recess Christmas: Miracle on Third Street is a direct-to-video compilation film spun off from the Disney animated television series Recess, released to VHS and DVD on November 6, 2001. It compiles four episodes of the series - "Principal for a Day", "The Great Can Drive", "Weekend at Muriel's", and the Christmas episode, "Yes Mikey, Santa Does Shave" - together with new linking animation.
The framing story for the video is set immediately following the events of "Yes, Mikey, Santa Does Shave" and focuses on Principal Prickly carpooling with Ms. Finster and Ms. Grotke. During the ride, Prickly and Finster talk about how they think T.J. and the gang are savages, but Grotke tries to convince them that they are really nice kids. Over the course of their conversation, they get trapped in a snowbank, and Prickly blames it on T.J. and the gang, although Grotke says there is a logical explanation over that, considering that they are nowhere around at this point. Throughout this, they reminiscence on the events of the episodes "Principal for a Day", "The Great Can Drive", "Weekend at Muriel's", and "Yes, Mikey, Santa Does Shave" (all of which are shown as flashbacks). Unable to get the car free, Prickly and Finster eventually come to realize that T.J. and the gang really are good kids. At that point, they arrive and push the car out of the snowbank, and Prickly admits they aren't so bad, to which Finster agrees, saying it really makes her feel more warm and fuzzy than before. The film ends with T.J. and the gang singing their version of "Jingle Bells".
