The Southtown cop is an unnamed minor character from the Rankin/Bass television special The Year Without a Santa Claus. He is a militant officer who is the first person Jingle and Jangle Bells encounter upon their arrival in Southtown. He stops them and charges the elves with traveling down the wrong way of a one-way street, crossing the white line on their reindeer Vixen, and wearing funny-looking clothes on a Sunday. The cop issues them a court summons and rides off on his yellow bicycle. He later tells Santa Claus that the elves caused a lot of trouble and suggested that they'd soon fall subject to the wrath of the town judge. (In the late 2000s through the mid-2010s, this scene was cut from the special's broadcasts on ABC Family/Freeform.)
The cop can also be seen as one of the crowd members at the end of Rudolph's Shiny New Year.
