Speedy Gonzales is a character from Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoon shorts. He is an anthropomorphic rodent who, as his name suggests, possesses the ability to run extremely fast, to the point that he is often described as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico". He had a completely different design in his debut cartoon, the 1953 short Cat-Tails for Two, directed by Robert McKimson. Under the direction of Friz Freleng, Speedy was redesigned and reintroduced in an Academy Award-winning self-titled cartoon short two years later. In many of Speedy's cartoons, he uses his speed to come to the aid of his fellow mice whenever they need help obtaining food from an obstacle, usually in the form of Sylvester the cat (and Daffy Duck in the later half of the 1960s).

Appearances in Christmas specials[]

Speedy makes a brief cameo in the "Fright Before Christmas" segment of Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales. When Bugs Bunny is reading the story of The Night Before Christmas to his nephew Clyde, Speedy is shown stirring a cup, saying that the line "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse," is technically incorrect.

In Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas, Speedy is an employee of Daffy's Lucky Duck megastore. He is shown working in the gift-assembling department, where it is shown that he is very good at assembling toys at a very quick pace.

Speedy's most recent Christmas-related appearance was in The Looney Tunes Show episode "A Christmas Carol". In the episode, Lola Bunny gets him to play a role in her own stage production of A Christmas Carol.
