Television's Christmas Classics is a CBS Christmas infomercial, hosted by Marie Osmond, that premiered on December 23, 1994.
Premise[]
Television's Christmas Classics manages to be warmly comforting without inspiring too many cold snickers. This special gathers yuletide clips from TV history to celebrate Christmas, from a slew of Muppets bellowing their way through "Deck the Halls", to Bing Crosby and David Bowie harmonizing, in an affably wobbly way, on "The Little Drummer Boy". Marie Osmond is an unobtrusive guide to these snippets, which also include holiday scenes from series as varied as The Honeymooners, Barney Miller, and St. Elsewhere. The standout in this area is a set piece from a 1960 Jack Benny Show, in which Benny buys a wallet from an exasperated salesman played by Mel Blanc, best known as the voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and many other Warner Bros. cartoon characters. The scene reminds you of how subtle Benny was, and what an unsung comic actor Blanc was.
