"The Christmas Invasion" is one of many Christmas episodes of Doctor Who. It was the first Christmas special of the 2005 revival of the show produced by BBC Wales. It stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, with recurring cast members Noel Clarke as Mickey Smith, Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler and Penelope Wilton as Harriet Jones, Prime Minister of Great Britain. It was aired on Christmas Day of 2005, and nominally set a year later, on December 24-25, 2006, in London, following the events of the two-parter "Aliens of London" and "World War Three", which led to Harriet Jones becoming Prime Minister.

Trivia

  • "Merry Xmas Everybody" by Slade is playing at the car repair shop Mickey works at when he hears the arrival of the Doctor's time and space vessel, the TARDIS.
  • A group of robots known as Roboforms impersonate Santa Claus, playing "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" on trumpets in central London before utilising the trumpets as flamethrowers, attacking the Doctor's allies Rose and Mickey with them as part of their plan to take the Doctor's regeneration energy to recharge their batteries with. The Roboforms later remotely control a deadly Christmas tree which wrecks Rose's flat and nearly kills Jackie. During the latter sequence, an instrumental version of "Jingle Bells" plays.
