The Gift of Love: A Christmas Story is a made-for-TV movie that premiered on CBS on December 20, 1983. It was directed by Delbert Mann, and written by Earl Hamner, Jr. (creator of The Waltons), based on Bess Streeter Aldrich's novella The Silent Stars Go By.
