The Nutcracker and the Mouseking is a 2004 theatrical animated movie from Germany. Released for the 2004 holiday season, it is dedicated to the memory to Rebekka Merz, who passed away in November 2003 at the age of 15, fighting against blood cancer, during post-production.
Based on E.T.A. Hoffman's classic story, The Nutcracker and the Mouseking is the tale of a spoiled prince who lives in a magnificent palace with his magician uncle, Drosselmeier.
The music was composed by Peter Wolf, featuring the excerpts from the Nutcracker Ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
