Christmas Specials Wiki

This article is about the Christmas episodes of the famous Canadian children's TV series, The Polka Dot Door.

Synopsis[]

As with the regular series episodes, the Christmas episodes were divided into specific episodes for each specific day:  general cleanup on Monday,, playacting on Tuesday, story time on Wednesday, Polkaroo on Thursday, and a trip through a dot on the polka dot door on Friday.  In each of these episodes, four toys appeared: Bear, Marigold, Humpty and Dumpty, whom the man and woman who hosted the Christmas episodes would talk to.  There were songs in each episode, and the play on the Tuesday evening episode was about a pair of mannequins who came to life on Christmas Eve and did a song and dance routine; they were played by the host and hostess.  One highlight from the Christmas series was when the host and hostess together sang the last verse of "The Twelve Days of Christmas."  The activities for the Christmas episodes involved preparing for Christmas, and at the end of the last episode the host and hostess said goodbye to the toys after laying out their stockings and quietly departed through the door as they slept.

Songs[]

"The Polka Dot Door" (special Christmas version)

"The Twelve Days of Christmas"

"I'm a Mannequin"

Notes[]

The five Christmas episodes were always aired annually until the show went off the air in 1995, and were hosted by a couple chosen specifically for these episodes, as they were not the host and hostess of the regular show at the time I was watching it.
