Tigger is a fictional orange-furred, black-striped, anthropomorphic tiger character from A. A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh books and their animated adaptations by The Walt Disney Company. Originally introduced in The House at Pooh Corner, he is easily recognized by his orange and black stripes, beady eyes, a long chin, springy tail, and his very bouncy personality. As he says himself, "Bouncing is what Tiggers do best." Like other Pooh characters, Tigger is based on one of Christopher Robin Milne's stuffed animals.
Appearances in Christmas specials[]
Winnie the Pooh[]
- Christmas at Pooh Corner
- Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too - In this animated television special, on Christopher Robin's letter to Santa Claus, Tigger wishes for a snowshoe for his tail so that he can bounce in the snow without getting stuck in it. After Pooh and Piglet retrieve the letter so that they can add Pooh's requested present, Tigger suggests listing a condominium for Eeyore and ten honey pots for Pooh, while Rabbit suggests that Tigger should get spring-powered snowshoes. However, because the letter was unable to be delivered to Santa as a result of the wind changing directions, Pooh tries to deliver his friends' presents himself; he first stops at Tigger's house and brings him his "super-duper bouncer", which promptly breaks apart the moment Tigger tries to use it. After Pooh again attempts to deliver the letter to Santa himself, at the risk of missing Christmas with his friends, Tigger tries to put a positive spin on things, but he soon finds himself missing Pooh, and is all too happy to see him again when he returns. Afterward, Christopher Robin brings the gang their presents that Santa left for them, including the snowshoe that Tigger originally wanted. Although this special came after Jim Cummings had begun voicing Tigger, his original voice actor, Paul Winchell, came out of retirement to reprise the role.
