Disappointed, Tuffy goes outside and decides he will build a snowmouse to help Jerry and Mrs. LePage, but when he's done, he regrets the idea. The snowmouse then miraculously comes to life and he and Tuffy become the best of friends. Tuffy introduces the snowmouse to Jerry and names him Larry, but Jerry is not pleased. Trivia[]

  • This is the third direct-to-video movie to have the same animation used in The Tom and Jerry Show (2014). The first was Tom and Jerry: Santa's Little Helpers and the second was Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up!.
    • This is also the second direct-to-video movie to use the same animation as the second season-onwards of The Tom and Jerry Show.
  • The title is a pun on "No Man's Land (Niemandsland)", a WWI-era reference.
  • This is the first Tom and Jerry project of several things:
    • The first project to feature Kevin Michael Richardson, Carlos Alazraqui, and Laraine Newman as part of the cast since Tom and Jerry: Shiver Me Whiskers, Tom and Jerry Tales, and Tom and Jerry: The Lost Dragon, respectively.
    • Butch, Meathead, and Lightning's first speaking roles in a direct-to-video movie that uses the same animation as the second season-onwards of The Tom and Jerry Show, as well as the first movie where they are voiced by Joey D'Auria, Rick Zieff, and Stephen Stanton, respectively.
      • It is also Butch's first speaking role in a direct-to-video movie since Tom and Jerry: A Nutcracker Tale in addition to Meathead and Lightning's first speaking roles in a direct-to-video movie overall (as well as Meathead's first speaking role in any Tom and Jerry animated project since The Tom and Jerry Show episode, "Disappearing Tom").
    • This is the first Tom and Jerry movie which features Tuffy as the main character.
    • The first Tom and Jerry movie to feature Carlos Alazraqui, Joey D'Auria, Kimberly Brooks, and Regi Davis as part of the voice cast.
    • The first Tom and Jerry movie to feature Rick Zieff as part of the voice cast since Tom and Jerry: Santa's Little Helpers.
    • The first Tom and Jerry movie to have songs sung by characters from the original cartoons since Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the first production overall to have this scenario since the Tom and Jerry in New York episode, "Torched Song".
      • It is also the first production where Butch sings since the aforementioned episode, and the first production where Meathead sings since The Tom and Jerry Show episode, "Ballad of the Catnip Kid".
    • The first direct-to-video Tom and Jerry film to have a soundtrack released with it. Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up also received its own soundtrack, but it wasn't released until December 2, 2022, eleven months after the film itself was released. This was also the same day the soundtrack for this film was released.
    • The first Tom and Jerry project to not feature Trevor Devall since he rejoined the voice cast in The Tom and Jerry Show episode "Here Comes the Bribe".
  • The three bonus episodes are "Snowbrawl" from The Tom & Jerry Comedy Show, "Ho Ho Horrors" from Tom and Jerry Tales and "The Plight Before Christmas" from The Tom and Jerry Show (2014).
  • Larry the snow mouse shares his name with one of Jerry's cousins from The Tom and Jerry Show episode, "The Masked Mouse".
  • This is the second movie with the current animation style where Spike is absent, with the first being Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up. It is also the first in this case to not feature Topsy.
  • Like Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up, it uses the early 1943 title cards (i.e. "Baby Puss").
  • The opening shot of Tom and Jerry, which is also shown after the credits, is the same one from Tom and Jerry: Cowboy Up, albeit modified to match the holiday theme of the movie.
  • Despite being named Mayor Berg, he is listed as "Snow Mayor" in the credits.
  • The scene where Tom pulls the string tail of the talking mouse toys resembling Jerry, with each toy saying "Say Cheese!", was reused from "I'm Just Wild About Jerry", which had toys that said "Mama".
  • Another scene where Tom's grinning face was reused in "Kitty Foiled".
  • One of the figures Larry shape-shifts into is a pirate that resembles Captain Captain from The Tom and Jerry Show episode, "Ghouls Gold".
  • The worker telling Doctor Doublevay that they only counted 49 of the 50 R/C cars they were supposed to load up is a likely reference to the Tom and Jerry Show episode, "Oh, Brother", where Spike's brother Mike owed 50 bones to a gang of dogs, but he could only find 49 bones.

Cultural references[]

  • Larry the Snow Mouse is a parody of the popular holiday character, Frosty the Snowman.
    • Additionally, after he is brought to life, Larry and Tuffy bring up the concept of snowmen coming to life through magic hats, which is a nod to Frosty's origins.
    • The scene where Larry rides down the mountain on his belly, with Jerry and Tuffy riding on his back, is also a reference to Frosty doing the same thing with Karen in his titular movie.
  • Larry's voice resembles that of the late Tino Insana, although it also sounds similar to that of Frank Welker.
  • As Larry looks at himself in the mirror, he shape-shifts into the following figures a muscular figure resembling Nils Niedhart from the 2020 reboot of Animaniacs, as well as Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States.
  • The song "Being Silly" might be a nod to the Silly Songs with Larry segments from VeggieTales, which often involved Larry the Cucumber, one of the main characters from the show, singing silly songs, as the name implies.
    • Coincidentally, Larry the Snow Mouse shares his name with the aptly named cucumber from the show.
  • When Doctor Doublevay mocks Mrs. LePage's Snow Buddy animatronic after it malfunctions, he says that "1983 called and wanted their pizza animatronic back". This is a likely reference to either the pizza restaurant chain, Chuck E. Cheese, or the game series, Five Nights at Freddy's.
  • Mrs. LePage referring to Doctor Doublevay's toys as "trendy, newfangled nonsense" is a possible reference to the infamous Thomas & Friends episode, "Edward Strikes Out".
  • The song "Never Too Late" shares its title with a song from the Disney Junior series, Elena of Avalor, and another from the 2019 remake of The Lion King.
    • Also during the song, American singer Bruno Mars is mentioned.
  • Carlos Alazraqui's voice for Floyd is quite similar to the voice he used for Elliot Sampson from New Looney Tunes, another project done by Warner Bros. Animation.
  • Larry calling himself "lovable" is a likely reference to when XR referred to himself as such in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins.
  • Doctor Doublevay calling Tom a "clod" is a possible reference to an insult frequently used by Peridot from Steven Universe.
  • The "fail-safe kill mode" of the Destroy-o-Matic 5,000,000 bears a resemblance to the walkers often used by the Imperial Army in the Star Wars franchise.
    • Incidentally, the score that plays during the scene involving its aforementioned mode is listed in the soundtrack as "Imperial Walker".
  • The R/C car that Tom gives to Jerry at the end of the movie has the same horn sound used by Sir Topham Hatt/The Fat Controller's car in the CGI series of Thomas & Friends.
  • The scene where one of the coyotes fall of the cliff as a result of Larry's tricks resembles a running gag from the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons, which involves a bird's-eye view of Wile E. falling off a cliff and hitting the ground in a cloud of dust.

Errors[]

  • During "Never Too Late", there are some points where Butch, Meathead, and Lightning's mouths either move despite them not singing certain parts or do not move despite them singing.
  • When Meathead says "You gonna be okay, Butch?", he mistakenly has Lightning's voice.
