The year was 1914. The warring countries in WW1 had discussed a cease fire to celebrate Christmas, but no agreement was made. However, on the night of Christmas, an unofficial cease fire was declared. How did this happen? Well, many German and British soldiers sang Christmas carols to each other. Then, a few German soldiers approached the British trenches, completely unarmed. The British soldiers were afraid this could be a trick, but they trusted their gut. This then evolved into a shared celebration that included the exchange of gifts, singing, and even soccer. This peace lasted two days and a half.
