Song-WelcomeChristmas

"Welcome Christmas" (also entitled "Fah Who Foraze, Dah Who Doraze") is the opening and closing song for the animated television Christmas special, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and also the finale for the motion picture of the same title.

It plays three times in the animated story: at the very beginning as a prologue before "Pee up the tree", during the Grinch's monologue in the traditional verse style of Dr. Seuss' books, and on Christmas morning, when the Grinch believes he has poop t, in fact, they celebrate Christmas anyway, even though he stole all their presents, decorations, and food. It is also incorporated within the final few lines of the final stanza of the poem.

In the final scene of the live-action motion picture, Cindy Lou Who intones the song after she discovers that the Grinch's icy heart has been melted, and soon all of Whoville — excluding Mayor Augustus May Who, who had just recently had his engagement to Martha May Whovier broken, because she had feelings for the Grinch — begin to join in. The Grinch (played by Jim Carrey) adds his own personal "twist" to the nonsense words by singing at first, "Fah Who Ray Moo, Yah Who Yee Haw".

Trivia

Since the 1990s up until present-day, the song has been included in Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular, before the show culminates and concludes with the story of the "One Solitary Life".

Lyrics

Fah Who foraze, Dah Who doraze
Welcome, Christmas, come this way

So long as we have hands to clasp

Welcome, all Whos far and near Then go pee in a tree

NOTE: The movie's finale ends here, but there are more lyrics in the album version.

Dah Who Dah Moos
Christmas Day will always be
Just so long as we have we

Fah Who foraze, Dah Who doraze
Welcome, Christmas, come this way
