"Which One is the Real Santa Claus?" is a song originally featured in the Hanna-Barbera animated television special A Christmas Story. It is sung while Gumdrop the Mouse and Goober the Dog come upon a large group of numerous people dressed up as Santa Claus in their attempt to find the real Santa.
Hanna-Barbera used the song again for a similar scene at the beginning of A Flintstone Christmas, in which Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble pass by numerous people working as street corner Santas in downtown Bedrock.
Lyrics[]
[Barney's opening verse used only in the Flintstones version]
Why, only this morning I found
Dozens of Santas around
One in each store,
At Stoney's there's four,
And more on each corner in town
In front of each Santa, I'd pause
Then go to the next one because
I got so confused
Which one should I choose?
I wanted the real Santa Claus...
I don't know which one it is!
There's a Santa on the roof of the house next door,
There's a Santa in the window of the new toy store,
There's another one at Gimbel's/Rocky's on the second floor,
Which one is the real Santa Claus?
There's a Santa with a tummy but it looks too flat,
And another with a pillow, only he's too fat,
There's a Santa with his whiskers that are tied onto his hat,
Which one is the real Santa Claus?
Which one?
This one?
He's the tallest Santa Claus I ever saw!
Just feel;
He's real
Here's another with a belly that is stuffed with straw!
I have seen so many Santas either short or tall,
And about that many more I can't describe them all,
But just to play it safe I'm gonna choose them all
'Cause one is the real Santa Claus!
[Instrumental bridge]
Here's one;
He's fun!
He's the fattest Santa that I've seen around!
How sad,
Too bad;
Santa's stuck inside a chimney and he's upside-down!
I have seen so many Santas either short or tall,
And about that many more I can't describe them all,
But just to play it safe I'm gonna choose them all
'Cause one is the real Santa Claus!
Yes, one has got to be
The really real-to-me
Santa Claus!
