"Xmas 2.0" is a two-part Christmas-themed episode of the spy animated series Berry Bees.

Synopsis[]

Part 1[]

The episode begins with a scientist wheeling in something for his boss to see - a "ninja-fighting teddy bear". The boss watches this via video on a laptop and is shown from behind in shadow.

Meanwhile, Bobby, Juliette, and Lola are at Bobby's house decorating her family's Christmas tree, and hanging up Christmas stockings. On the TV, they see a female reporter mention that a Christmas lighting ceremony is supposed to take place outside of a mall. Lola asks if that Christmas tree can light as well as theirs. The reporter also mentions that a surprise celebrity is appearing at the mall to give away free elf dolls. Juliette says that they already have someone who can light up their tree - herself, and that's exactly what she does. Bobby's parents and little brother arrive home. Her dad greets the girls and asks how the decorating is coming along; the girls say it's been going great. Bobby's parents bought all the things in preparation for Christmas, like the groceries among other things as her dad says. Her mom mentions the free elf toy give away that's supposed to happen at the mall. Then, the girls' berry rings sound off as they're being contacted by their boss and fellow agent, Ms. Berry. The girls gather at an ice cream shop and get a video call from Ms. Berry. While running through a mall with Christmas gifts, as well as dodging the passers-by as she does this, she informs the girls that someone is out to sabotage Christmas and has kidnapped Santa Claus. She mentions that it's up to them to head to the North Pole to find out just who's behind this, as adults carrying out the mission would be too conspicuous. Afterwards, the Berry Bees receive their orders of shakes. In Lola's shake, she finds a candy cane that ejects a rope dart from the bottom and comments on how cool that is. They figure that they must investigate a mall department store Santa before they can go about learning more from the real Santa. But they need to come up with a plan to get past the mall elves and the kids who are there to receive the toy elves. With them realizing they need to come up with a diversion, Juliette volunteers to be the distraction, as she had experience in a Christmas pageant play. While Juliette is dressed as an angel and being suspended by a rope pulled by Lola to get a crowd's attention, Bobby hacks into a computer to discover more information about the case. Juliette tells the spectators she gives them tidings. One boy asks what kind of tidings and as Juliette begins explaining, she starts being lowered, spun, and swung about uncontrollably, due to Lola losing control and steadiness of the rope. Once Bobby has all that she needs, she and the other girls go down a chute. Another boy finds the angel costume Juliette left behind and asks where she went. In a ride-on train, a ninja teddy's eyes light up and glow red, indicating it's been activated.

The chute leads the trio to an underground tunnel with mine carts and they fall into one with letters in envelopes, heading to the North Pole. Once there, they slide out of the cart onto a conveyor belt and head into another tunnel, which leads them to Santa's workshop. They notice Santa's elves carrying out their duties, like wheeling a cart of letters, carrying a Christmas tree, and one elf bouncing and flipping on a trampoline while others watch. The girls then slide down from a high conveyor belt into a letter-filled cart. Bobby looks around for the other girls when they disappear and asks for them. Lola is hiding in a big gift box and gives her the thumb up before sneaking off while Juliette is dressed as an elf. Bobby then goes off to do some hacking again. Juliette approaches a light blue-haired, female elf and asks if she's happy. The female elf says her name's actually Hoppy and introduces a dark green-haired, male elf named Happy. Happy says he's never seen Juliette before and she says she's Helpy, the helper elf who is helping Santa with the lists. She pretends she's writing on a clipboard and Happy claps with joy. Lola is still sneaking around in the gift box and comes to a stop before another male elf notices it. Wondering how the parcel got there, he picks up the now empty box and carries it off while Lola is revealed to be hiding in a Christmas tree. Bobby checks the system that keeps track of things like orders. She and the other girls don't see any problems, as everything seems to be going well as it should. Juliette flips through a few check lists and sees there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with those either. Thinking that all is well, the girls begin to head back home when they hear someone coming and hide behind a tree. It's Santa who has entered the shop and the girls try to sneak away before Santa notices them. But he asks them if they're going to greet him and mentions their names. Wondering how he knew who they are, he says he knows all children and rolls out two long lists: one for the nice kids, the other for the naughty kids. The threesome are worried about being on the naughty list, but Santa tells them they're all on the nice list and they breathe a sigh of relief. He asks them what brings them to his shop and Bobby tells him that they were told that he was kidnapped and Christmas was being cancelled. He denies this, saying everything is going as planned. The elves are seen laughing giddily. The girls then spot two, large teddy bears. Juliette is suspicious of them, telling the two other girls about them, and Bobby goes to them to investigate. Once their eyes light up, they do back flips and are revealed to be ninja teddies. Happy carries some presents and the ninja teddies tie him up and kidnap him. Santa tells them to stop and the trio go after them. Happy isn't too concerned as he laughs with glee and naively at this. Bobby tries firing a sticky substance at them, but misses. The girls then realize that the whole thing about Santa being kidnapped was fabricated and that it was all just a ruse to get them to come when the idea of kidnapping Santa was for after they had arrived. But they wonder why Happy is being kidnapped. When they get back outside, they find Santa's reindeer and each of the girls rides one as they continue to go after the ninja teddies. The teddies turn around to find the girls are still behind them. A helicopter arrives and lowers a rope for the teddies to grab so they can be elevated and get into it. Lola fires a rope with a plunger that wraps around Happy and he's brought back down. Lola frees Happy from the rope, telling about him being kidnapped. Happy didn't think it was for real all this time, as he thought it was just a game and laughs gleefully again while Lola looks at him puzzlingly. When he and the girls return to the shop, they see the other elves looking glum. Hoppy tells them that Santa has been kidnapped, for real this time. Happy becomes sad at hearing this and is consoled by Juliette. Santa was taken away while the girls were busy stopping the teddies and getting Happy back. Dawning on them that Christmas is really ruined now, they must devise a way to rescue Santa.

Part 2[]

Back at Bobby's family's house, Bobby's little brother, Ben, begs his mom to take him to the tree-lighting ceremony. She says they'll go later, due to it still being too early. Ben then tells his dad he wants to see Santa. His dad says the celebrity expected to be there might be Santa. He says the girls should come along with them, but his wife says they won't be joining them since they're supposedly helping friends with presents.

At Santa's workshop, Happy begs Bobby, Lola, and Juliette to have Santa returned, as Hoppy says without him the festivities will be ruined, showing them the sleigh filled with presents left behind. Juliette says they'll get to the bottom of it and get a ninja teddy to talk. Bobby says the teddy can't talk, because it's actually a robot. After Bobby looks up the whereabouts of Santa on her hand held computer, she and the other girls discover he was taken to a warehouse and held captive there. They use and ride Santa's sleigh, which flies them back to Clover. After they arrive, it just so happens that a party is being held in the warehouse. The girls attempt to enter, but a bouncer asks if they're on the guest list. A girl named Priscilla comes and tells them they weren't invited, as it's a private party. Lola remarks it had to be her and Bobby comments on her lack of Christmas spirit. But Juliette comes up with a way to get inside unnoticed. She distracts the bouncer by telling him an old lady needs some assistance and asks for his help. He obliges, but finds no one there. The girls manage to sneak inside the warehouse. Once inside, Bobby tries to find the button to a passageway on her computer. Lola tells her to hurry up before Priscilla comes to the same side of the room where they are and catches them. But Bobby is unable to open it, since there doesn't seem to be a control panel. Thinking it could be hidden, they search for the button that activates the passageway before they all realize where it could be: Under a lighted dance floor. Juliette dances on it in order to activate the passageway while disco music plays and a crowd gathers to watch her. Once that's accomplished, the girls are finally successful at getting a door to the passage to open and enter a labyrinth. Lola comes across a few of the robotic ninja teddies and defeats them. Juliette finds a room where the robot teddies are made and hides in one of them when she hears someone approaching. It's the scientist who asks who it is. Juliette, disguised as a robotic ninja teddy, confronts him. The scientist, surprised the teddy can talk, Juliette explains that she's new and improved. He tries to push a button on his remote when he thinks the teddy is malfunctioning, but she frightens him into telling her just what's going on exactly and he surrenders to her demand. Bobby encounters a couple of robo-teddies as well, but manages to fend them off by firing her raspberry gun and enters a computer room. Lola is still in the hallway and she meets what she thinks is yet another robo-teddy. As she prepares for combat, Juliette removes the teddy head, revealing it's her. She tells her about the information she had just received concerning the toy elves and the plans for the Christmas tree lighting event later on that night, and they continue down the hall.

Christmas Eve night arrives and so does the crowd. Ben chants, "Light the tree!" twice, but his mom says that will be done in a minute. Ben's dad wishes the girls could've joined them, but his mom reminds her husband that they had to help out their friends. He comments on how they'll miss the lighting. Lola and Juliette get to the ceremony, and they have to climb up to the peak of the Christmas tree, where the Christmas star is, as that's where Santa is being kept, as Juliette tells Lola that's what the scientist/henchman told her. They begin climbing it to reach the star. After doing some research, Bobby informs the other girls remotely that whoever nabbed Santa is also responsible for the toy elves, which are also robots and that they're dealing with a high-tech genius.

The high-tech genius happens to be Tara Bytes, who was behind all this, arrives to do the honors of lighting up the Christmas tree, and was who the scientist was talking to earlier. Ben is disappointed that she's not Santa. Tara announces to the crowd that due to Santa retiring, he won't deliver the presents anymore after all. But she will replace him and carry that on as Tara Claus, she also explains that the toy elves are really robots that can make any toy that is requested. Ben asks if that's for real. With a press on a tablet screen, Tara uses that to light the tree. Watching from above, Juliette isn't pleased with this. Suddenly, there's a rumble and the girls nearly fall from the tree, but manage to hang tight. Tara notices Lola and Juliette, saying that they're too late to stop her, the Christmas star is actually a rocket set to send Santa to the South Pole, he'll be forgotten about, and she declares that she'll be the most beloved person in all of the world, laughing with delight and fiendishly. Juliette mentions the rocket will take off once it's powered on and Lola says they'd better get there first. Ben's mom tells him to make his request and his dad says Tara Claus said that the robot elf can make any toy he wants. Ben begins to make his wish, but the elf robot walks away, as do the others, due to Bobby somehow reprogramming them to do that with her hand-held computer. Juliette and Lola spot they have company, which is, yet again, a robo-ninja teddy. The teddy grabs Juliette and makes her fall from the tree, but the robot elves catch her at Bobby's command. Juliette thanks her and Bobby tells her she's got to return to freeing Santa. Lola reaches the tree top and releases a tied-up Santa, who also has a sack on his head removed by her, from the star-shaped rocket. Santa exclaims he's glad to see her. Bewildered, Tara doesn't have a clue why the elf robots aren't functioning correctly. Santa and Lola fall, but are caught in the flying sleigh while it rises and is being driven by Juliette. She delightfully says that steering it is fun. Santa takes over steering it and tells the girls to hide so they won't be noticed by the spectators, especially Bobby's family. As the crowd see Santa and the reindeer-driven sleigh ride by, Tara says it's great that Santa is still at it nervously while feigning innocence and she's forced to flee when the elf robots head towards her. On Christmas Day, Bobby, Lola, and Juliette find a snow globe as a gift to them. It contains an automated voice message from Ms. Berry, who thanks the girls for their assistance and congratulates them on a job well done. Presents are dropped down the chimney, the girls and Bobby's family are delighted by this. Santa gives his season's greetings as he and his reindeer soar in the sky.
